501 Series Standard Tee With Groove Transition | HDPE × Grooved Steel — Product Overview

The Series 501 Standard Tee with Groove Transition from Poly-Cam offers a reliable and high-performance mechanical connection between HDPE pipe and grooved steel systems. Designed for use in municipal, industrial, and mechanical piping applications, this transition fitting ensures a permanent, leak-resistant seal—delivering dependable performance even under pressure and temperature fluctuations.

The fitting features hydraulically compressed, high-quality polyethylene or copolymer material cold-pressed into a grooved steel coupling. The internal multi-barb design maximizes sealing force as internal pressure rises, while also maintaining secure engagement under zero pressure. With grooves cut to standard specifications and sizes ranging from 1" to 8" IPS, the Series 501 is engineered for strength, durability, and long-term service.

Key Features & Benefits

  • HDPE × Grooved Steel Connection: Enables fast and secure joining of polyethylene pipe to grooved mechanical piping systems
  • Multi-Barb Insert Design: Provides a mechanically locked seal that strengthens as internal pressure increases
  • Standard Groove Compatibility: Grooves are precision-cut to industry-standard specifications
  • Durable Construction: Manufactured using carbon steel (epoxy coated), 304 SS, 316 SS, or ERW pipe
  • Thermal & Pressure Resistance: Maintains seal integrity through thermal expansion, contraction, and internal pipe pressure
  • Long Design Life: Rated for 50 years of service at 73.4°F with a 2:1 safety factor
  • Certified Quality: Meets or exceeds ASTM 1598, ASTM 1599, NSF 61, and ARRA compliance standards
  • Protective Coating: Epoxy coating on carbon steel meets NSF, FDA, AWWA, UL, and FM standards

Common Applications

  • Municipal Water Systems
  • Fire Protection & Sprinkler Systems
  • Chilled & Heating Water Lines
  • Industrial Process Piping
  • Mechanical Room Connections
