Turnbuckle, Eye and Eye — hot dip galvanized drop-forged turnbuckle with a closed eye on both ends, for permanent guy wire, cable and rope tensioning.
A turnbuckle takes the slack out of a line and holds it. With an eye on both ends the connections are made with shackles, bolts or thimbled cable eyes, so the assembly cannot unhook if the line goes slack. That makes eye and eye the pattern for permanent installations: pole guys, fence and railing cable, anchored duct bank ties. Turning the body draws the two eyes together; take-up is the working travel available.
