U-Guard Pole Riser — nonmetallic PVC U-guard (Prime PV Mold) that protects cable and conduit running up a utility pole, in 10 ft belled sections that nest end to end.
A U-guard, also written U-gard, is the half-round channel fastened to a pole over a riser cable or conduit. This is the nonmetallic version, sold by Prime as PV Mold: a flanged PVC channel with a belled end that fastens through seven slotted mounting holes per side, each section belling over the next so a run can be built to any height. Being PVC it insulates rather than conducts, needs no grounding or bonding, and does not rust, which is what separates it from galvanized steel U-guard. Standard duty uses a Schedule 40 wall that meets the Schedule 80 impact requirement of NEMA TC-19, and the compound is UV stabilized for pole-top service.

All sections 10 ft overall including the bell. Impact rating is at 0°C with a 20 lb tup per NEMA TC-19. Size is the trade size of the conduit or cable bundle the guard covers. 1" and 5" standard duty, and heavy duty and extra heavy duty grades, are available on request. Ships by freight due to length.
