PVC Conduit Primer, 32 oz — purple primer that cleans and softens PVC and CPVC before solvent cementing, with visible proof the joint was primed.

Primer does two jobs on a conduit joint: it removes dirt, grease and the surface glaze from the pipe and fitting, and it starts softening the PVC so the cement fuses the two parts instead of just gluing them. This is Oatey 30758 purple primer, an aggressive NSF-listed primer for all schedules and classes of PVC and CPVC. The purple tint shows an inspector the joint was primed, which many specs and codes require. Low VOC, meets ASTM F656 and NSF/ANSI 61. Dauber in the lid.
